 Friday is mid 90s african american household classic, the film follows a pair of best friends Craig and Smokey who find themselves in more trouble on this particular Friday than they could even imagine. Craig was fired Thursday night for being accused of stealing boxes and the whole neighbor ends up knowing by the very next day. His best friend smokey decided to say he would move some product for the hoods drug dealer but soon finds himself using the product for himself and not having the money to pay for all of it. This movie captures almost all moods for the duration of the film. An excellent watch for anyone looking for a good laugh.

Juice

 Juice is an early 90s classic for the African American community, the film follows Bishop, Q, Steel, and Raheem. This young group of African Americans participates in small petty crimes from time to time but nothing serious. They soon decide to go to the next level and rob a convenience store, this stems from problems in the group's dynamic because some members have hopes and aspirations to do something positive with their life but Bishops disagrees and plans to spend his life in crime. Bishop soon begins to turn on all of the friends and go to length to keep his tracks covered which would never have been suspected.

All Eyez On Me

 ALL EYEZ ON ME is a direct view into the lifestyle and come up of legendary Tupac Shakur aka 2PAC. This film captures his militant childhood of growing up with black panthers for parents and social activists, from a young age he was trained to be a strong African American man in the united states of America. This film allows the audience to personally see the drug-addicted but resilient woman who was Tupac's mother, it also allows a view into his early work Digita Underground to his last few moments of being alive in the car with Suge Knight. This film is a huge recommendation to anyone who even slightly appreciates 2pacs' music and story.

Belly

Belly is a late 90s classic following two young African American men Sincere and Buns, they have always lived life in the dangerous ways to survive daily life. Throughout their early years in life they were able to gain respect and build a criminal enterprise that revolves around trafficking drugs and robberys. They boys end up splitting ways due to lack of seeing eye to eye on their lifeplan. This a film that will have you glued to the screen at all times from the soundtrack to visuals it simply can not be compared to anything.

 

Paid in full

 

Paid in full is an early 2000 African American classic, Paid in full follows a young man's rise to wealth and fame with the dope game. Ace starts as a young hustler working at the cleaners and trying to stay out of the way of all the gang nonsense and violence around him.  He eventually meets a reliable drug dealer and reluctantly starts to work for him and that's when his life would change forever, he would start working for him and realizes he can put his boys on. He brings his two best friends Mitch, and Rico and they soon rise to the top of Harlem. They have many ups and downs, from buying dream cars to receiving loved one's body parts in the mail as a threat. This movie is a staple in the African American community and he is even viewed as a motivational movie to chase dollar signs and change their situation.

Straight Outta Compton

 Straight outta compton is another African American classic, it was released in 2015 and follows the life before and after the buzz of a group of 5 young African American artists who decided to go by the name of NWA. Straight outta Compton captures the early conflicts and celebrations the group had in their first few years. The whole movie is based on true events and is historically accurate due to most of the actors and people in charge of the show have actually been around or been a part of the group. The show captures all aspects of the musical problems, personal life problems, and problems with society at the time.

Menace To Society

 

Menace To Society is another early 90s African American classic, the movie follows two young black men who symbolize the stereo types. One young man by the name of Kane is a smart, money-hungry young black man that is chasing money and trying to stay out of big trouble but somehow always finds himself in the middle of street business. Kane on the other hand is the hot head, an ill-tempered friend who has violent and malicious intentions most of the time. The Movie perfectly highlights the inner poverty struggles that young men all across the world are faced on a daily basis.

Snow Fall

 Snowfall is a modern-day masterpiece, it follows a young smart black entrepreneur of the name Franklin Saint. Franklin is a calm, intelligent and crafty young man who uses his knowledge of the ghetto and rich neighborhoods to his advantage and becomes one of the most successful drug dealers in his area. His story has many ups an downs but there is never a dull or boring point. The episodes fly by and always find a way to make you want more.

Baby Boy

 

Baby boy is an African American classic movie, the movie follows Jody aka Baby boy. He is a late teen early 20s young man who struggles with the concept of leaving his mother's home and taking the steps to become a real man. Jody has multiple baby mothers and actively sleeps with multiple women with all of them knowing about each other. Jody battles against his mothers' new relationship with fear that it mean he won't be the number 1 priority in her life. The mom's new boyfriend actively tries to engage with jody and put him on the right path but jody refuses and rebels. This movie gives a great showing of what it is like to grow up in a low-class to the mid-class ghetto neighborhood.

Get Out

 

"Get Out" is a new-age horror thriller directed by Jordan Peele, the movie follows an African American man named Chris and his caucasian girlfriend as they go to the girlfriend's parent's house for the weekend, from the very first scene there are connections, and hints being made to the plot of the movie. Chris immediately suspects unusual activity from the parent's house and the people he sees there consistently. 

Get out encourages the consumer to question situations and address modern-day racism in ways that have never been considered. The film is a masterpiece that captures emotions and tensions through colors and characters actions.
