Snow Fall

 Snowfall is a modern-day masterpiece, it follows a young smart black entrepreneur of the name Franklin Saint. Franklin is a calm, intelligent and crafty young man who uses his knowledge of the ghetto and rich neighborhoods to his advantage and becomes one of the most successful drug dealers in his area. His story has many ups an downs but there is never a dull or boring point. The episodes fly by and always find a way to make you want more.

Baby Boy

 

Baby boy is an African American classic movie, the movie follows Jody aka Baby boy. He is a late teen early 20s young man who struggles with the concept of leaving his mother's home and taking the steps to become a real man. Jody has multiple baby mothers and actively sleeps with multiple women with all of them knowing about each other. Jody battles against his mothers' new relationship with fear that it mean he won't be the number 1 priority in her life. The mom's new boyfriend actively tries to engage with jody and put him on the right path but jody refuses and rebels. This movie gives a great showing of what it is like to grow up in a low-class to the mid-class ghetto neighborhood.

Get Out

 

"Get Out" is a new-age horror thriller directed by Jordan Peele, the movie follows an African American man named Chris and his caucasian girlfriend as they go to the girlfriend's parent's house for the weekend, from the very first scene there are connections, and hints being made to the plot of the movie. Chris immediately suspects unusual activity from the parent's house and the people he sees there consistently. 

Get out encourages the consumer to question situations and address modern-day racism in ways that have never been considered. The film is a masterpiece that captures emotions and tensions through colors and characters actions.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari

 

Carl Mayer and Hans Janowitz are the writers of the film. The film uses high-angle camera shots. These camera angles have an excellent way of drawing the audience in and imposing the feeling of them actually being trapped in the movie with the characters. Alongside the high-angle camera angles, there are multiple close-up camera shots where the audience can really get an up close and personal view and feel for the emotions of the characters. These camera angles increase the value and impact of the movie tremendously.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie even with some of the scenes being a little confusing.

Whats up!!My name is Akinwande Oluwibe (AK for short). I was born in the south suburbs of chicago in a town called chicago heights. I am a Criminal Justice major. I chose to take this class because of my love for films, watching films with my family was a huge part of my childhood so it was second nature to take this course. Most of my free time is spent either working out, spending time with family and friends or sitting back and enjoying a good film.

My favorite movie to date is either Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now, A good portion of my childhood was spent with my grandparents and uncles watching these types of movies so i've come to adore them.
